Is This Man A Genius?
Yessir. Or at least that's what I think. Rob Zombie, with films such as "House of 1000 Corpses" and the newly released "Halloween" remake, is shaping out to be the next Wes Craven. His filmmaking style and penchant for gore, sex, and everything your mother doesn't approve of is catapaulting him from obscurity. Not that he really was obscure before his career in film.
Zombie's films push the envelope, but without making audiences abandon the movies. His 2005 horror film "The Devil's Rejects" was met many kind words, including a 3 out of 4 star rating from acclaimed movie critic Roger Ebert. The film won 2 Spike TV Scream Awards (Best Horror Film and Best Vile Villain), and is number 7 on Bravo's Even Scarier Movie Moments.
It goes without saying that if you are not a fan of gore, violent sexual content, and overall disturbing behavior, then a Rob Zombie movie is not for you. But if you can look past or even enjoy all of that, you'll see that not only is Rob Zombie a purveyor of madness and mayhem, but he is a well established and intelligent filmmaker.
